Today’s (totally optional) prompt: What makes you feel cozy or safe? Join up at Jana’s Thinking Place! I think I might change this up a bit to “warm & fuzzy…”
*****

miracle baby’s socks with dirty tops from crawling around on the dusty hardwoods.

sliding into our bed, even with its mismatched pillowcases and sheets that need to be washed.

naked twin tushies running from the shower, squealing with wet hair dripping down their backs.

baby leaning over the side of her high chair to throw her food to our dog, Monster the mini poodle.

a tall glass of Shatto chocolate milk.

Shatto Milk. If you're in KC, get some NOW!

books, books everywhere. books in stacks, books on shelves. children’s books, too.

back rubs and hugs from my husband.

chowing down on his homemade rigatoni casserole.

my close friends. you know who you are.

enjoying a glass of wine while i make dinner and the baby bangs on the window in the living room.

making hard choices, being strong, doing good work, being honest with myself and others. not backing down. knowing i’m right when it comes to something big.

What makes YOU feel comfy/cozy or warm/fuzzy? Leave it in the comments!

This is awesome, Erin. Love the last line, especially.

What makes me warm and fuzzy – watching my boys together. Eating ice cream with my husband. Getting comments on my blog!

      Alison,

oooh, yes! definitely blog comments—which I need to do more of. And I love watching my kids together, too (especially when they are playing nicely, i.e. not fighting)!! xoxo

    Love this! ….

For me — definitely hearing the children’s laughter when they play together and everyone is getting along… reading book on the couch with the sounds of football playing in the background… knowing that I’ve helped someone in some way. :)

      Melissa,

Definitely the getting along part goes in there! Mine do their fair share of fighting, so when they’re playing happily, it’s bittersweet and fun. And I love helping people, too.

Love this. And yum – chocolate milk!

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      Tracy,

Chocolate milk is a SERIOUS problem around here! xo

Soup… there is just something about warm, homemade soup with some fresh baked bread that makes me feel al cozy.

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      Jackie,

Then where are you? You need to get over here and make me some soup and fresh baked bread!!! ;-) xoxoxo

Such great things!! I love how some are as simple as hearing your child playing while you enjoy your wine and cook dinner.

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      a.eye,

wait, other people celebrate their children playing/getting along by having a glass of wine while cooking dinner?!?!!?!

      ;-)
(doesn’t happen often here. mine fight sooooo much!)

Love your list and aside from my deep list of things in my post I love giggles, nothing better than kids giggling.

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      Jessica,

Agreed. Kids’ giggles are the best. On another note, loved your FB shares of the lanterns and the sweet tribute to Hadley and all others who have been lost. I carry you in my heart. <3 <3

THat is a beautiful day all wrapped into one post. Love.

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      Kimberly,

It is. Too bad it usually never gets all wrapped up into one day. i had to write it when i was having a good day. sometimes it’s hard to remind myself of these things, you know? HUGS

  • Lady Jennie

I like all of what you said, but this one rings true with me: making hard choices, being strong, doing good work

    • http://www.erinmargolin.com/ Erin Margolin

      Lady Jennie,

Thank you so much! That one resonates with me, too. Working on it. A lot, lately…
